Who We Are
epistles to Friends on our fundamental values*
epistle on Respect for the Individual
To All Friends Everywhere: We affirm that respect for the individual demands of us that we acknowledge and recognize that of God in each individual and in ourselves; that respect is a process that involves moving beyond initial impressions to discover the full personhood of the other; that we need to be open to listen and to value being fully present with one another; that, if we achieve this, then we create community.
epistle on Inclusive Community
Greetings to all Friends Everywhere: We’re in this together. All are welcome regardless of disability, background, sexual orientation, class, race, education, or location. We value tolerance for all messages. As a Meeting, we support one another — financially, spiritually, and emotionally — as well as the wider community. We are hospitable toward all. We seek to abide by our testimonies and value our widespread communities. We all have a connection to the Light; it’s all around us and within us; it holds us together.
epistle on Quaker worship
Dear fellow seekers: We send our greetings. We are writing to affirm the fundamental qualities of Quaker worship. The Spirit meets us in corporate worship. We settle into silence, centering into the Light Within to listen deeply. Worship is a mystical experience in which we experience the welling up of something inside ourselves, yet outside ourselves. Sometimes the Spirit wells up within one of us and the message of the Light bubbles out. Listening to the deep ministry of others allows for deep ministry to ourselves. At times we experience ourselves as part of a whole, a simple unity. May you find the Spirit in the ways you worship.
